Australia’s Jordan Bruno Crowned Mr Gay World 2018

Australia’s Jordan Bruno was crowned Mr Gay World™ 2018 at a glittering ceremony in Knysna on Saturday 26 May.

After spending a week in Knysna exploring the sights, helping out through community work and participating in various challenges, the 10th edition of Mr Gay World™ ended in the Grand Finale where the King was revealed. He could not have wished for a better 26th birthday present on the day of the finale, as Jordan walked away with several wins in various categories as well as the overall prize..

Mr Bruno was selected as the new face of MichalGamePlan, a cosmetics range for men. He also won best interview, most photogenic, best formal wear and best social responsibility campaign.

Ricky Devine-White from New Zealand was crowned the first prince, having scooped several wins during the evening, including the sports challenge, best written test, best swimwear. Second prince is Mr Gay World™ India, Samarpan Maiti.

Mr Gay Costa Rica, Miguel Rodriguez won best social media campaign and South Africa entrant Karabo Morake walked away with a win as the best national costume, designed by Floris Louw. Mr Portugal was chosen by the other delegates to be Mr Congeniality. Each category winner walked away with various sponsored prizes, as did the overall winner.

Singing sensation LINA performed at the event, as did the amazingly talented Eden Michelle. MC’s Armand du Plessis and Casper de Vries had the audience in stitches with their jokes and banter, while the panel of judges led by Mr Gay World™ President Eric Butter had a tough time to make the final decision.

The competition is billed as “beauty with a purpose”, with Mr Butter saying: “Mr Gay World™ is not about trying to be someone , is about doing something.” The Mr Gay World™ organisation has committed to supporting the winner in the year to come to attend Pride and other LGBTQ+ events around the world.

Several local sponsors and supporters like and Knysna Toursim joined international brands like Hornet to make the event possible as part of the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival which also took place this week.

The Mr Gay World™ hosting country for 2019 has been revealed. Next year the finals will be held in Hong Kong.
