South African jewel in a crown

The new Mr Gay Mardi Gras Southern Africa (representing South Africa in the next MR GAY WORLD 2017 event) was announced at a gala dinner function on 29 April 2016.

This was the culmination of weeks of hard work by all ten entrants and the final week they had spent together as a group competing for the coveted title.

The Mr Gay Mardi Gras Southern Africa competition was devised and organised by Johann van Niekerk, John-Louis O’Neil, Vernondo Boshoff and Louis Douglas in association with the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival in Knysna -the longest running LGBT Festival in South Africa – with John-Louis and Johann being part of the team that had brought the MR GAY WORLD events to South Africa in 2012 and 2015.

The MR GAY WORLD™ organisation sent hearty congratulations to winner Alexander Steyn (Xander), a resident of Bloemfontein in the Free State. He is an artist, choreographer and radio announcer. The first runner up was Jaycee Reynold and the second runner up was Johan Botha. Alexander also walked away as the winner of Mr Photogenic and the Face of Michael Game Plan.

We wish him all the very best in the Mr Gay World event knowing full well that South African men are highly sought after all over.
